Canada’s latest Express Entry draw invites 27,332 immigration candidates in historic draw

13 February 2021

A total of 27,332 ITAs have been issued to Express Entry candidates in a single draw

Two Express Entry draws conducted in a span of four days. Today’s draw issued invitations to 27,332 immigration candidates and their families to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Yes, that's right: 27,332 invitations to apply were just issued in an unprecedented Express Entry draw for CEC candidates. Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence were issued to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program candidates only. This is the largest Express Entry draw in history — by far. As such, the CRS score cut-off scores as low as 75

We are still trying to make sense of this peculiar Express Entry draw which is unlike any draw in Express Entry history. One possibility — and, remember, this is just one hypothesis — is that Canada may be streamlining the process for candidates who are already in Canada. This would allow the country to continue processing new permanent residents, even while COVID-19 travel restrictions continue to intensify with no immediate end in sight.

At this time, we cannot tell you when Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) candidates will be considered in a draw — or, for that matter, when the next Express Entry draw may take place. Bear in mind that today's draw was more than five times the size of the previous record-high draw, so it is possible that there may be a break from draws.
